This goal sheet is a tool designed to help magicians and mentalists set meaningful goals, stay organized, and grow both creatively and professionally. It focuses on honing performance skills, expanding business opportunities, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance, ensuring 2025 is your most successful and fulfilling year yet.
The checklist is broken down into seven areas, and since it is “generic advice” not everything will fit you perfectly, but I suspect much of it will. And even those things that don’t may spark ideas of your own to help you have a more magical 2025.
The seven areas of mystery performing that the checklist covers is as follows:
Artistic Development
…focuses on honing your craft as a performer. It encourages you to learn new techniques, refine your existing routines, and explore creative ways to make your magic unique and memorable.
Performance Goals
…emphasizes setting measurable milestones for your shows, trying new venues, and actively seeking feedback to improve your connection with the audience. If you’re always performing at the same place and want that to change, think about this one.
Marketing and Branding
…is about making your magic business visible and appealing. It covers updating promotional materials, maintaining a consistent social media presence, and growing your audience through email lists and outreach.
Networking and Community
…highlights the importance of building relationships within the magic community. It suggests collaborating with peers, attending industry events, and supporting others to expand your influence, learn from others, and make connections that can be handy in the future.
Education and Inspiration
…encourages continuous learning and broadening your perspective. It includes studying magic-related resources, exploring other disciplines for inspiration, and staying updated on trends in entertainment.
Business Growth
…focuses on the financial and operational aspects of your magic career. It emphasizes setting income goals, diversifying revenue streams, and improving client booking processes to ensure sustainable growth. Mostly applicable to paid performers, but even hobbyists should take a look.
Personal and Professional Balance
…reminds you to take care of your well-being while managing your career. It encourages prioritizing health, managing time effectively, and celebrating achievements to maintain enthusiasm and longevity in your craft. As someone who burned out in his early 20s and then spent 30+ years away from magic, I wish I would have thought about this back then.
The checklist you can download below shows three goals in each of those seven areas — spend some time going through it and choose the things that are most important to you. You’ll have a personalized roadmap to help you make the most of the coming year.

There are two versions — the first one is more concise and the second one has space for notes to print out and write on. Grab both or just the one that appeals to you.
If You Want More…
Those are the basics, but I am working on a comprehensive toolkit that goes in-depth on each one of those areas, including interviews with professional performers who give their perspective on some of the topics.
If that checklist is enough for you, I invite you to download it, print it out, and keep it in front of you over the coming year, revisiting it every month or two to make sure you’re on track with where you want to be.
